Mango Sorbet Popsicles [no added preservatives and colors]

As the mercury is soaring high, all one can want is some chilled juices, coolants and lemonades to keep hydrated through the day. Though lots of drinks, squashes and ice creams are available in the market these days, they are not only high in sugar levels but also contain excess of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors which are absolutely harmful for our health. Now the question is, how to get away from such unhealthy stuff. Well the simple answer is make them at home. I know it is quite an effort but at the end of the day its all worth the hard work put in because you certainly would be treating yourself and your family with a healthy, fresh, flavorful and preservative free food. For those who have been following my blog would know how much I love mangoes....since these sunshine beauties are available in abundance in summers, I like to make most of the opportunity. In the past, I have used them in quite a number of desserts and drinks including those of  Mango Lassi ,...

Creamy Mango Kulfi

Image
Come summers and fruit markets are lined up with vendors selling a variety of mangoes. Emanating a strong aroma, just enough to captivate your senses, you certainly get tempted to buy some and arrive home with a bag full of them. Well! that is what exactly happened with my husband last week. He is so fond of mangoes that he could not resist himself and bought a huge basket of these sunshine fruits while returning from office. Besides relishing them as is, I invested some of them in this delicious, creamy and luscious " mango kulfi ". Imparted with a hint of cardamom and rose, it tasted simply divine, and not to mention explicitly, much much better than the store bought ones.    Creamy Mango Kulfi  Oh my my !! can you see the creaminess oozing from these kulfis in the picture above? That is exactly what we Indians love in our kulfis...don't we? In case you agree, I am sure you will love the recipe too which only requires three main ingredients. So, what are...

Plum & Coconut Yogurt Ice Lollies

My husband is quite fond of desserts and chocolates; and he essentially needs something after dinner to satiate his sweet cravings. So, yesterday when I was making the plum compote , I already had in my mind to use it in preparing these delicious ice lollies which are loaded with goodness of yogurt, power-packed nutrients from the plums and a mild & refreshing taste from coconut. If you have the compote/preserve handy, they can be simply made in a jiffy and without requiring too much of an effort. Also, I have used coconut flavored Greek yogurt, you can make it with plain yogurt too. Here's the complete recipe for the same. Ingredients (makes 4) 2-3 tbsp Plum Compote (store bought plum jam or preserve would work as fine) 1-2 tbsp coconut flavored Greek yogurt (or you can also flavor the plain yogurt with some coconut cream and sugar; it would work too) Method 1. Pour the compote in popsicle moulds such that they are filled 1/3rd. 2. Let these moulds sit in t...
