Sabudana Khichdi | Sago Khichdi

Sabudana ki Khichdi finds its place amongst the most popular Indian breakfast dishes and that is commonly eaten during Navratri and Shivratri in Northern and Western parts of India. Needless to say, the tiny little sago pearls stir fried along with crushed peanuts, boiled potatoes and mild spices are fully packed with carbohydrates and make for a wholesome meal that leaves you energized and pepped up for the full day of fasting. With that being said, this khichdi is so tasty that you can even have when not fasting. It's also a perfect recipe for those who prefer vegan and gluten-free delicacies in their daily diet routine. So, without wasting much of the time, let's get started with the ingredients and method to make this yummylicious khichdi. Sabudana Khichdi | Sago Khichdi Ingredients 1. Navratri Vrat Special - Kuttu ki Kadhi

Image
Come Navratris, and I am all set to go on a feasting mode 😁. While people fast during these 9 auspicious days, I am quite the opposite and love binging on an endless variety of gastronomic delicacies that leave my palate all satisfied and contented with their divine taste and aroma. And on my special Navratri menu, apart from 'Kuttu ke Pakode', 'Samak Pulav' and ' Sabudana Khichdi ', the recipe which takes the top position is this exotic " Kuttu ki Kadhi " that is off-course made using kuttu or buckwheat flour. Now what makes this kadhi even more interesting is its crispy pakodas (fritters) that are bursting with an added tartness and flavor of faalsas or black currants. Trust me, just a small addition of these tiny little balls of sweet-citric juices, elevate the taste and flavor of the kadhi to another level. If you have never made use of faalsas in such a way, try it now and I promise, you will not be disappointed. Coming to the recipe,

Needless to say, khoya in this beautiful curry makes it quite rich, also lending it a subtle creamy taste. If you want, you can also add some nuts to make it even more sumptuous. And off-course, it makes for a great dish to be relished during non-fasting days as well; pair with a lachcha parantha or naan and you are all set for an exquisite meal. Baked Chicken Pineapple & Cheese Pop Tarts [Using Homemade Pie Crust Dough]

Image
Earlier during this week, I shared with you a traditional Indian sweet recipe of " Besan Sooji ki Barfi " for the upcoming festive season. Today, I am again here with another recipe for festive gatherings - not a sweet or a dessert though but, an exotic savory tart delicacy which can be made well ahead of time, kept frozen and baked just 30 minutes prior to arrival of your guests. Baked Chicken Pineapple & Cheese Pop Tarts The stuffing I have filled in these flaky tarts is of chicken and pineapple; needless to say, one can be as creative as possible with the same - you can choose from any combination ranging from chicken-ham, cream cheese-shrimp and potato-bacon to vegetarian versions like spinach-ricotta, French onion-mushrooms and even the classic tomato-mozzarella; the choices are endless. Baked Chicken Pineapple & Cheese Pop Tarts Also, these tarts have been made using the homemade pie crust dough, you can always use the store bought ones that certa

Chicken Momos | Steamed Chicken Dumplings

Image
" Chicken Momos " have always been one of the favorite street foods of my husband; since the day we have moved to Singapore, though an ample variety of Asian steamed dumplings ranging from Dim Sum , Bao to Gyoza and Korean Mandu can be relished here, we still do badly miss the taste and flavors of the Indian-Nepalese Momos . And that is the reason, one day I got myself working out these succulent and juicy dumplings which are often served with a super spicy garlic-chilly sauce. Surprisingly, the results were great the very first time; and since then they are a must on our snacking menu over a weekend. Chicken Momos | Steamed Chicken Dumplings Though making momos is not a rocket science, it still requires few things to be taken care off. The very first is the skin of momos; the dough needs to be supple and soft yet firm enough so that it can hold the juices of the filling. Shaping of momos is also a skillful job and requires a little practice; and also while shaping on

Besan aur Sooji ki Barfi | Gram Flour - Semolina Fudge

Image
When festive season is knocking the doors and you are living out of India, few things that you surely miss are all that glitter of the decked up markets, the hullabaloo of the festive noises reverberating in the air and off-course, an infinite range of those lip-smacking mithais, without which the celebrations for us Indians are absolutely incomplete. It's been 2 years since we moved to Singapore and this food blogging bug bit me; and since these two years around September-October I gear up to try my hands at some of the traditional Indian sweets which have been part of our celebrations since ages. This Gram Flour - Semolina Fudge was one of the initial few sweets that I tried after moving here; a variant of traditional Besan Ladoos , they are absolutely lip-smacking with semolina lending them a beautiful texture and crunch. If you too are looking for some easy Indian sweet recipes to try out this festive season, this barfi recipe is certainly a keeper. Do try it out and let me

Vanilla Chocolate Chip Biscotti

Image
" Biscotti " is an Italian term referring to biscuits that are "twice baked"... and generally the ones which most of us often relate to are these crunchy and oblong shaped cookies that are technically also known as "Cantuccini". Originated during mid-nineteenth century in the small town of Prato in Italy, these biscotti have today become a coffeehouse staple across the world; while the original biscotti flavor can be traced back to comprising of just almonds and pine nuts, today you can choose from an endless variety starting right from simple vanilla, chocolate and cappuccino to even dried fruits such as cranberries and prunes. Vanilla Chocolate Chip Biscotti I am sure, baking biscotti at home might seem to be an intimidating task for many but, let me tell you its simply the opposite - quite easy and straightforward. Once you get the heck of it, you will not be able to resist yourselves from experimenting with different flavors every other day. The
