Classic Vanilla Chocolate Chip Cookies

Looking for a high tea munchie or a kid's party snacker, these classic vanilla chocolate chip cookies make for a perfect choice. Crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside with the overloaded goodness of chocolate, they are sure to add that heavenly 'cookielicious' charm to your menu. Prepare a big batch of the dough and store in the freezer; and whenever you have your guests coming, simply grab a portion of it and pop in the oven...it gets baked in just no time. Want to know the recipe? here you go.....

Ingredients

All purpose flour - 1 + 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar - 1 cup
Softened unsalted butter - 1/2 cup
Baking powder - 1/8 tsp
Cornflour - 1/4 cup
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Egg - 1
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
Chocolate chips - 1 cup

Method

1. First in a bowl, combine butter and sugar. Whisk it well until they both combine well. This process is called creaming.
2. Next add in the egg and vanilla essence. Whisk again.
3. Sift together all purpose flour, baking powder, salt and cornflour. Mix this sifted flour to the butter-egg mixture little by little along with the chocolate chips until you get a semi-stiff dough.
4. Place a parchment paper on a plate, make lemon sized balls of the dough and let sit for an hour in the refrigerator. Once they are set, its the stage when you can also freeze them and use later.
5. In the meanwhile, preheat the oven to 170 degrees centigrade. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with a parchment paper and pop in the oven to bake for 20 to 25 minutes. You will know they are cooked when the edges get slightly toasted. Also, make sure to place them 2 to 3 inches apart on the tray as they will flatten out while getting baked.
6. After 25 minutes, take them out from the oven and let them cool on a cooling rack. They will crisp up in a while. Enjoy with tea, coffee or a glass of chilled milk.
