Virgin Pear and Ginger Mojito

If you have been reading my blog, you must be well aware of my love for fruity summer coolers and mocktails. This Virgin Pear and Ginger Mojito is one of the many drinks that I have tried this season. Loaded with the sweetness of pears, slight pungency from ginger and little tartness from lemons, it makes for an ultimate drink to refresh you to the core. While I have made this drink virgin, you can definitely go ahead and punch in some Vodka or Gin as you like. Its gonna be terrific either ways.

Virgin Pear and Ginger Mojito

INGREDIENTS (serves 4)

  • Ripe pears, medium sized (roughly chopped into cubes) - 2
  • Ginger (roughly chopped) - 3 inch piece
  • Mint leaves - a few
  • Lemon slices - 3 to 4
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 4 tbsp
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Soda water/ sparkling water - as needed
  • Ice cubes - as needed
- Please feel free to adjust the amount of ginger as per your liking.

METHOD
  • In a saucepan, add the chopped ginger and pear along with water.
  • Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until the pear is softened.
  • Switch off the heat and let the pear cubes cool down.
  • Blend the mixture to a smooth puree and strain through a fine mesh so that ginger fibers are removed.
  • Again bring the puree to a boil along with sugar. Turn the heat off and let the concoction cool down. Mix in the lemon juice. This concoction can be kept in air tight jar in the fridge for about 3 to 4 days.
  • To serve, add in some lemon slices along with mint leaves in serving glasses. Muddle them nicely. Then pour in about 1/4 cup of pear and ginger puree in each glass. Top it with some ice cubes and soda water. Enjoy chilled.
