Hello Everyone, today I am here with a very simple yet a very delicious and healthy breakfast recipe - Mango Oats Smoothie .  Its summer time and in such scorching heat, I mostly prefer taking a very light yet filling and healthy meal in my breakfast, which mostly consists of idli chutney , a light vegetable sandwich, poha, sooji upma, vermicelli vegetable upma etc. Lately, this list has got a very easy and delicious addition - fruit smoothies. Made with some overnight soaked oats, yogurt, milk and fruit puree, it comes out really tasty and at the same time, is quite filling which keeps you full for a long time. Needless to say, its also a very good option for those trying to shed some extra kilos.  Just for my vegan friends, I would like to mention that thought the smoothie here is made using dairy milk and yogurt, if you are vegan, you can definitely go for plant based options like soya or coconut milk and yogurt. South Indian Rice Idli Recipe | Steamed Rice Cakes

Image
Idli is a round, steamed cake traditionally made of lentils and short-grain rice. Not to mention, it is one of the healthiest breakfast recipes of Indian cuisine and a staple food of South India. Authentically, idli is made using a semi-thick fermented batter made of urad dal and short grain rice; however there are many other varieties too such as Rava Idli , Oats Idli , and Poha or Avial Idli etc. that are enjoyed in Indian homes. Recently I also made Instant Moong Dal Idli which was a great hit with my family. While all these varieties are instant, quick, easy to make and require no fermentation, yet the traditional rice & lentil idli (the recipe of which I am going to share today) is one that has no comparison. Spongy, fluffy and pillowy soft, these idlis are best enjoyed with the traditional South Indian Sambar and Coconut Chutney on the side. So, if you have been looking for the best recipe to make these traditional Rice Idlis, I must say, you are on the correct page. L...

Instant Crispy Sprouted Moong Dal Dosa

Image
Well, Dosa is one of my most favorite South Indian dishes that I can hog on in all three meals of the day. With that said, the actual dosa recipe which calls for fermenting the urad dal and rice batter is such a tedious and laborious job that needs a lot of patience as well as planning. Plus, because it has the major portion of it comprising of rice, I do not prefer having it every other day. Now, because I love dosa and yet cant have the normal version frequently, I recently tried this instant sprouted moong dal dosa, which was so easy to make and required no fermentation. And yes, it didn't even require the use of rice. So what is that one thing which lends this healthy recipe that much needed crispiness?. Well, its none other than the barnyard millet also locally known as Sama, Samai and Samak ke Chawal. Trust me, adding a little of these tiny pearls give the dosa such a nice texture and crispiness, that too without any fermentation. Try it the next time you are planni...

Classic Overnight Oats with Mangoes

Image
Overnight Oats ! Well, if you are hearing this term for the first time, let me start by giving you a quick introduction about the same. Overnight Oats is nothing but an easy, no-cook version of the oatmeal that is more like a dessert, so much tastier, creamier and denser than the regular stove-top cooked hot oats. Served chilled straight from the refrigerator, it makes for a wholesome meal to relish during summers. Not to mention, its quite a versatile dish in terms of flavorings; one can flavor it with fresh fruits of their choice, chocolate, Nutella, or just plain simple nuts and seeds. My version of this overnight oats comprises of a simple base topped with a couple of tablespoons of fresh mango puree, some chopped peaches and cherries and a sprinkle of sliced almonds and pistachios. You can go for the same base recipe and top it with any fruits that are in season; let me tell you creativity is the key here. So, make your brains do some exercise to come out with some inter...
